If you're new to homeschooling - or rethinking your approach - you've probably heard the words 'classes' and 'enrichment' used almost interchangeably. They're not the same thing, and knowing the difference will save you a lot of money and burnout.
Traditional homeschool classes
Classes are usually weekly, semester-long, and tied to academic outcomes - grammar, math, science, writing. They're great for building consistency and core knowledge.
Enrichment workshops
Workshops are short, high-impact, and skill-focused. They go deep on one creative or future-ready skill - storyboarding, problem solving, public speaking, entrepreneurship - usually in a single day or short series.
When to pick which
Choose classes for the long arc - the 'every Tuesday for a year' kind of growth. Choose workshops to inject inspiration, expose your child to new ideas, and build skills traditional classes rarely touch.
The best mix
